Have you ever wondered what all has led you to be in a position you are as of today?
The answer is – YOUR DECISIONS
Your choices made till date has made of you the person you are today
“All humans are made out of the same clay, but are crafted differently by the choice of decisions they make.” – Gunjan Rehal
Life is nothing but a boutique of probabilities where every decision made by a specific individual is customized to deliver result in a particular direction. All said, there is no space for the guarantee. Guarantee of getting the result on par with the expectation. And also, the choice made cannot always be categorized as right or wrong. An individual might make a grey zone choice which requires a bit of extra mental work to get the desired destination.
The multiple decisions we start taking from the moment we get up in the morning, to the time we bid good night, can broadly be categorized on varied parameters. Some might be routine decisions while others very crucial ones which would play an integral role in determining our next move. So let’s categorize them into simple three categories, discussed here below:
DECISION TO WALK WITH THE CROWD
There are certain actions in our routine life which have become an inseparable part of our subconscious mind, and therefore we execute them, without putting in much of deliberate efforts, until and unless it’s mandatory. One such task is Decision Making. Often when we are served with the platter of options, we tend to stick to the default option as the decision, to escape the effort of exercising our brain. For example: If a class twelve student is asked about his future prospects, the major section of the replies will be pursuing graduation. Because that is what the general public does.
DECISION TO IGNORE THE CONSEQUENCES
Our decisions are the tools which aesthetically carve our life. What you are today is because of the decisions you took until yesterday. While we make any decision (big or small) we are also aware of its consequence (big or small) to a certain extent. And although we wish for the happy ending; the result is not always the same. But, strangely, sometimes we also make the decision to ignore the consequences. For example, an employee makes the decision to reach office late, knowing that is might result in the fierce temperament of the boss. But then the employee has decided to face the consequence.
DECISION TO AVOID BEING ACCOUNTABLE FOR OUR DECISIONS
Likewise, there are several small decisions which we might consider insignificant, but these are the ones which form the spine of our stand in future. Be it our own health, our finances, our work life, our relationships and everything we own or don’t possess, is a reflection of the decisions taken by us. Sometimes we might show our back to the consequence of the decisions made by us, but that’s being dishonest with our own self and avoiding looking at our mirror image.
BRAIN NOURISHMENT TO DELIVER THE BEST
Undoubtedly we as humans are not brain equipped to make every decision as the right decision. But we can for sure take few baby steps to nurture our decision-making skills in a way that it delivers only the best.
- Begin with being accountable for the decisions you take. No one is to be blamed, for what you do.
- Be aware of the decisions you make and direct them towards your goals.
- Make every related research on the topic for which you are going to take the final call. Inquire about the five Ws – What, When, Who, Where, Why.
- Switch on the brain storming button of your mind to come up will all the possible options for a given situation.
- Take help of someone if needed but evaluate all the pros and cons related to every shortlisted choice/ option.
- Believe in yourself and your capability to make the right choice. If you follow your inner soul you tend to be making the right choice 95 percent of the times.
Conclusively, if you choose to be a happy person, you can always be so, come whatever. It’s the power of your inner soul and the power of your decision-making skills.
